Tips for Beginners ~ Colour Matching Video Tutorial

Hello Crafty Friends,

The job over at the Kaisercraft Blog this week was to come up with a Tip for Beginners, those just starting out in their Papercraft Journey.

We talked about it in our little Facebook Group – Papercraft Secrets Creating with Confidence.  (You are welcome to join our little group if you would like to).  Maree came up with the great idea of Colour Matching and I asked her if she would mind me using her idea for a Video and Blog Post.  So today’s post is a little tutorial of how I choose photos to match the colours of my papers.  I talk all about it in the video below…

Tips for Beginners ~ Video Tutorial

My Tip for beginners just starting out in Papercrafting is to colour match your photograph to the papers you are working with.  In this example I have taken the blue and white tones from the colours in the the photograph and tried to choose papers and flowers that match those colours.  Its a very simple technique but I feel it is crucial to making a layout easy to look at.  If your photograph doesn’t match the colours of your papers you can always edit the photo to black and white  or sepia colours.

Tips for Beginners - Colour Matching by Alicia McNamara This photo is a special photo for me because I am with my Grandfather.  I chose the quote to match the photograph.  Its not often I have moments like this with him these days because we live so far apart.  But when I do get to sit next to him and chat the world stands still.  For a moment nothing else matters except just the here and now.
