Sharon’s Misty Mountains Card Request Tutorial

My friend Sharon emailed me asking for some inspiration.  She said that she had bought the Kaisercraft Misty Mountains papers and two new Kaisercraft dies and she needed some ideas for how to put these products together to make some cards.  I was honoured that she had asked me for some inspiration, so I said that because I had those products I will make something especially for her in the hope that it might give her some ideas.  I have created a Card Request Tutorial especially for her.

Sharon’s Product Requests were: Misty Mountains Paper, Tag Die and Rose Cluster Die.

How to Make the Cards

Step One – I cut 6 tags from 12×12 Misty Mountains Paper “Marbled”.  I cut 6 Rose Clusters from 12×12 Paper “Moody”.

Step Two – I decided to make one of those “One Page Wonder” set of cards.  I have never tried this before and I was keen to give it a go.  I found a pattern on the internet and marked it up onto a 12×12 piece of Card Stock as my pattern. Measurements are all in inches.

(Sorry, this was just a rushed iphone photo I took as I was going.)

I measured and scored all the lines on the paper “Agate”.  Alternatively you could use a ruler and a pencil.  Then I cut along the lines.  I copied the sketches I found on the internet and wrote them down in my book as I made each card.

Step Three – I designed the base paper for each card.  I inked all the edges as this really helps to dress up a basic card.  I also used glitter tape to help pretty the sketches up a little.

(This is another scratchy photo, but at least you can see all the sketches in one place!)

Step Four – I chose a die cut for each card.

Step Five – I embellished each card with flowers, leaves, sewing thread, rhinestones, collectables, organza ribbon and wooden flourishes.  Then I splashed them with Misting Spray.

This is what each card looked like completed…

Video Tutorial

I filmed the whole creative process and took notes along the way, hoping that this might be useful for Sharon to watch and have a go at making some cards for herself.

This was a really fun challenge! If you have any challenges for me please let me know…if I have the same products as you do I could have a go at choosing to make something to give you some ideas.  let me know in the comments.

Thanks for stopping by and have a crafty day.

  1. What a wonderful idea, and how generous of you to assist and help fellow crafters. I love what you have made with the misty mountains collection.

    1. Aw thanks Judith! I loved this challenge…sometimes I have so much of the Kaisercraft products I dont know what to focus on, it helps me to have a little direction. Plus I love the thought that maybe in some small way I can help other crafters. I love the crafting community. I feel so priviledges to be a part of this huge community of women who have a similar hobby. I love that Misty Mountains collection…could keep on making with it…thank you so much for your comment. It is most appreciated. Alicia xx

  2. These cards are lovely. Great to see what can be made using a relatively few elements. A coordinated set of cards that would make a great gift

    1. Thank you so much Kim for your lovely comment. You are exactly right. The “One Page Wonder” Cards are a great way to use up 12×12 paper left over in your stash.
